Program Details:Classical
Ludwig van Beethoven, Finale of Piano Sonata No. 17 in D minor "The Tempest": III Allegretto
This gripping and dramatic work sees Beethoven experimenting with innovations of form, harmony, and technique.
Muzio Clementi, Sonatina Op.36, No.3
A fun, energetic piece, much like its predecessors from the same opus but with a slight increase in difficulty.
Early Romantic
Johann Strauss, The Blue Danube Waltz
Dreamy and classy
Johannes Brahms, Rhapsody Op. 79 No. 2 in G minor
This Big Romantic Piece has it all: a tragic but proud mood, sweeping gestures, mysterious harmonies, and shattering climaxes.
Franz Liszt, Gnomenreigen
The second of Liszt's Two Concert Etudes, Gnomenreigen, is one of his most enchanting piano works. Although it poses major technical obstacles, it is considerably less daunting than most of his Transcendental and Paganini Etudes.
Franz Liszt, Liebestraum
This intensely lyrical piece was inspired by a heart-wrenching poem about love and loss by Ferdinand Freiligrath: ‘O love so long as you can!’´
Late Romantic Period
When the Saints Go Marching In

Peter Tchaikovsky, Sleeping Beauty Waltz, arr.

Edward MacDowell, “Witches' Dance”, Op. 17, No. 2
The Witches' Dance is the second piece in Macdowell's Fantasy Pieces. The witches however seem to be more cheerful than wicked, as there is little menace and a feeling of secret celebration.
Sergei Rachmaninoff, Prelude in G minor Op. 23, No. 5
The most played of Rachmaninoff's op 23 Preludes is characterized by its relentless, triumphant marching rhythm and the melting lyricism of the middle section.
20th and 21st century
Valery Gavrilin, Imitation of antiquity
Fun, witty and delightful
